A little reset – WellyBooks in 2025
When I started WellyBooks earlier this year, my mission was simple: read 30 books in 2025 and share the joy of books, libraries, and little escapes along the way.
So far? I’ve read 11 books (and loved many of them!). But after returning to work following treatment, life got full again and the reading slowed down. I’ve been sitting with a pile of books waiting patiently for me—and today feels like the right time to reset.
The Reset Goal: Instead of 30, I’m aiming for 20 books in 2025. That feels doable, still a big win, and most importantly - keeps reading fun rather than pressure.
What you’ll see here:
Quick “currently reading” updates
Bite-sized reviews (no long essays!)
Highlights from Wellington City Libraries
A monthly wrap-up of what I managed to read
Book fair updates (always popular!)
Book fairs have quickly become my favourite part of WellyBooks - and yours too. They’re the most visited page on the site. I’ll be covering the three fairs already lined up to take us through to the end of October, and I’m always happy to share more. If you’re organising one, or have books to donate, let me know - I love connecting books with new readers.
I’ve also been toying with a mini online shop - small escape treats like bookmarks, journals, premium tea or eye masks to make reading time feel like a true escape. Nothing big, just little joys. If you’re a local maker, or know a great brand, let me know. I’d love to support local and build something fun together.
Most of all, I want WellyBooks to feel light, fun and real - because reading is about joy, not pressure. Whether it’s a book fair, a library haul, or a few minutes stolen with a good story, it’s all about finding those little escapes.
Thanks for being here. Let’s see where the next chapter takes us :)
